Hi! This design is so exciting, a fun mix and match Barbie design. I would love to say I created the Barbie logos myself, but of course they are water decals! I think the accents of glitter and stripes really bring the design together!
This manicure actually didn't take too long, the water decals really speed up the process. This was my first time using the decals, and they are surprising easy to apply to the nail. I used these ones from eBay.
Middle finger -
I started out with a bright Barbie pink base, I used Models Own Malibu Pink. Then I cut one of the decals from the sheet, and placed it in water for around 10 seconds, it then should be ready to peel off. After applying the decal, I felt the nail looked a little boring, so I decided to border it using Revlon Sequin.
Index Finger -
This nail probably had the most time consuming design! Start off with a pale pink base, then using a striper brush and a hot pink polish, create vertical lines along the nail. This can be tricky if you aren't used to creating stripes, you could also use striping tape to help you. I find it's easier to draw stripes, as I can control the width much easier.
Now time for the studs! I took loads of black, gold and silver studs and stuck them randomly near the cuticle. I originally wanted to use pink and crystal studs, but I think the solid colours make the design more bold and different to the typical Barbie, (although this design is unmistakeably Barbie inspired ahahaha!)
Ring, thumb, and pinky fingers -
There isn't much skill or explaining behind the next designs. For my pinky finger, I used a pastel pink, and added the Barbie logo on top. This is probably my favourite nail, just because it's so simple, but still obviously Barbie.
For my thumb and ring finger, I used two coats of a silver foil, then layered a holographic glitter over the top. The glitter I used is Nicole by OPI Party Bus, from the Carrie Underwood collection. This glitter is amazing, it has smaller circle glitters, larger circle glitters, and chunky silver flowers! The flowers are a little sparse, but after keeping the bottle upside down, I was able to get a ton out!
I had to include a close up! |
